COMMITTEE MEETING 03/04/2012
Held at Royal Oak Ockbrook 8.30pm
MINUTES
Present
Sarah Baxter, Sue Blackwell, Linda Grant, Rob Grant, Morgon Griffiths, Katherine Healy, Dorothy Holden, Sheila Kendrick, Yvonne Knighton-Meer, Martyn Palmer, Sue Massingham, Carl Perry-Taylor, Angela Phillips.

1.Minutes of last meeting.
Minutes were read by Sue Blackwell and matters arising taken along the way. They were agreed as a true record.

2.Matters Arising
The equipment store has not yet been purchased.
3. Treasurers Report
Linda reported that we have £8676 in the bank with the rent paid up to June. Linda said that numbers slightly up by 3 overall.
Beginners Class was down by 16 on the previous year.
Intermediate were up by 49
Advanced were down by 18
Competition Class were down by 12
4. Instructors Reports
Beginners. Sarah reported that numbers had increased to a regular 8 with a few on a waiting list. Sarah said that they had concerns about one handler and it was agreed that Tracey would observe a class. Sarah also stated that they were working towards a wider range of training and using positive training methods. A trainers meeting was requested in order to encourage consistent training methods across all classes. Trainers to agree on time and place for a meeting.
Intermediate Carl reported that class numbers were OK at 7 -8. They feel they need to expand range of exercises in their class.
Advanced- Mogs reported that the numbers were consistently 10+ and they were introducing new items such as heelwork to music.
Competition- Tracey reported that numbers were OK at 10-12 per week but sometimes as low as 2.
There was some discussion about providing some training on a Tuesday whilst the Demo Team were at Ockbrook. Sheila agreed to run a class at the unit from 7.30 with assistance from Tracey.
5 Social Secretaries Report
Sarah confirmed that the Club Social was very successful with 39 adults and 2 children. Thanks to Martyn for the quiz and many thanks to the organising committee. There was a small profit, which will be used to purchase more cutlery and tablecloths
The Panto was well attended as usual.
The Social team are hoping to organise a trip to the Greyhound racing and a Treasure Hunt.
6 Demo Team
Training had started at Ockbrook with two demos arranged. The Allestree Scouts on May 7th and The Big One June 10th.
7 Dog Show 2012
The Dog Show committee will meet Sunday 22nd April at 10am.
8 Committee & AGM
Sue Blackwell is not standing as chairperson but Rob has shown an interest in standing.
This leaves the position of Secretary available. Angela has shown an interest in standing as Secretary. All committee members would stand for re-election plus Tracey will stand for election to committee. Rob to speak to Geoff.
The AGM was set for Thursday 12th July at 8pm at the Unit.
9.Funding for Training Courses
Mogs explained that the cost of the training course he was taking was £580 and was looking for additional funding or taking his training fees in advance in lieu of weekly training fees.
There was a long discussion during which Tracey and Mogs said they had paid £45 to join KCAI.
The following proposals were taken
The Training Fee Limit to remain at £200 per person per annum.
Proposed Sue Blackwell. Seconded: Sheila. For 10, Against 1, Abstention 2. Motion Passed.
The Funding for The Good Citizens Assessment Courses would remain outside the training fee cap.
Proposed: Sue Blackwell. Seconded: Martyn. For 10, Against 1, Abstention 2. Motion Passed.
10. Membership Renewals Report & Review
Sheila said that we have had 32 renewals with few renewals from the Competition Class due to small attendance on renewal date. It was agreed that a list of renewed members would be available for instructors to check against their class list.
11. A.O.B.
Carl said that he would be working away in the near future and that Mogs would cover for him training the Intermediate Class.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 22.15
