In order to review our position Linda will bring attendance figures to next meeting.
ACTION POINT: LINDA
4. Instructors Reports
Beginners. Mick stated that he had enjoyed the Trainers day and learnt a lot. He now has two assistant trainers (Sarah & Fran) which is making things easier and more enjoyable. Had a good class and Bronze Test today unfortunately due to the current Kennel Cough outbreak numbers were down and only 3 passes. Mick has a waiting list to contact and it was agreed to have another test in July.
Intermediate – This class now combined with Advanced class while others are training for the Demo. Class sizes have been fluctuated recently from 11one week to 5 this week. Holidays are having an effect at the moment. Fran will help Sue Massingham to cover Robâ€s holiday in June.
Advanced- Currently training at Ockbrook for the Demonstration. This will be covered in the agenda item.
Competition- No report as no trainers were present. Sue Barlow said classes were about 8 and training was varied week to week.
5.Social Secretaries Report
There was a discussion about the Club night on 4th July. As the discussion progressed it became obvious that it was a non starter due to a lack of theme so it was suggested that we convert this event to a social bowling night and Kathy will investigate with Ilkeston Bowl and promote it if itâ€s a goer.
After lengthy discussion it was decided that the social club Night be arranged for October and a sub committee of Kathy, Dorothy, Sarah & Linda will organise. Proposed Kathy, Seconded Dorothy. All in favour. ACTION POINT: SUB COMMITTEE
Kathy said that a treasure hunt would be held on August 6th
The Annual Dinner will be organised for March 2009
6.Dog Show 2008
The Dog Show organising committee said that they had had 2 meetings now and a lot of the jobs sorted. The Schedule was ready for printing but this is a problem as Kathy cannot get the volume printed. Kathy agreed to print 1 ream and Sarah was to investigate using the Church photocopier. Otherwise we will have to pay for copying. Sue Blackwell was trying to organise the next meeting at the RSPCA. Sue Barlow said she was having poor response on the request for prize donations. The committee were asked to help and source prices. ACTION POINT: ALL
7. Instructors Training Day
The training day was held and the general consensus was that it was very useful to everyone. We have had a good feedback from members interested in assisting in various capacities. It was suggested that it should be a regular event. We will discuss when Chris is available at a meeting.
ACTION POINT: AGENDA ITEM
8. Demonstration Team
Training was taking shape with an improved routine. Training has been easier to take forward as the majority of the team are members of last year’s team.
4 demonstrations are planned. 6th July Treetops Hospice Dog Show, 12th July John Port School, 13th July RSPCA open day Stretton, 14th September DVDC Dog Show.
9. Membership Renewals
Kathy & Linda did a good job in taking memberships renewals and all the trainers expressed their thanks. Rob asked for clarification that the offer of the first night training for free was only available to new members and did not apply to lapsed members. This was agreed and the clarification will be incorporated into the constitution when it is next reviewed.
11. AGM
It was agreed that the AGM would be held on Tuesday 24th June at the Unit at 8.45.
The following committee members are due for re-election.
Sue Blackwell- Chairperson. Sue Massingham, Sue Barlow, Mick Barlow, Sarah Baxter, Diane Brealey, Kathy Nicol & Dorothy Holden
Diane said she would not be seeking re-election but wished to still be involved in the clubs activities.
Sue Blackwell to canvas for new committee members. ACTION POINT: SUE BLACKWELL
12. AOB
Linda asked if food at committee meetings was still required due to the late finish. All agreed it was no longer required.
Discussion about communicating with the members was discussed and it was agreed to try and obtain E-mail addresses of members.
Martyn will amend the membership form to include the E-mail address. Rob agreed to issue a form requesting this information. During the discussion it was agreed that we would publish contact numbers of all trainers for members to contact.
There was concern amongst the committee about the current outbreak of Kennel Cough and although it was agreed that the outbreaks were nationwide and not confined to our members we agreed to monitor the number of cases in our classes and advice members to be vigilant about spreading the disease.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 21.55.
NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING Thursday 4th September 20.30. At the unit.
