The Derwent Valley Dog Club promotes training of Dogs through the Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme.

The national scheme for all dogs (pedigree & crossbreed) and their owners is designed to train dogs and their handlers to become “Good Citizens”. There is no age limit on either dog or owner but dogs must have completed their vaccination program to take part.

The basic training course is easier than you think and upon successful completion dogs (and owners) will receive a Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Certificate.

The Scheme aims to make the owner fully aware of their dog owning responsibilities and the need to own a socially acceptable dog.

New recruits will be able to enroll by contacting Carole Briggs. See our contact page.

There are two additional levels of Good Citizenship, so please ask about the Silver and Gold once you have achieved your Bronze Award.

You can get further details about the Kennel Club Good Citizen Award Scheme by contacting The Kennel Club on 020 7518 1011 or e-mail gcds@the-kennel-club.org.uk
