Instructors Profile - Sue Blackwell
Sue Blackwell is the senior trainer for the Gold Good Citizen Class. Sue began dog training in 1981 with her Border Collie Lune. She soon progressed to competitive obedience. Sue and Lune traveled the midlands competing on a regular basis. Sue had a second Border Collie named Guin. She trained Guin to a high standard and once more went into competition winning many rosettes of all colours. Sue has also stewarded and marked at many competitions, including the Obedience Championship at Crufts as well as trying her hand at judging.
Sue is a founder member of Derwent Valley Dog Club and having held the post of secretary for many years is now the club’s chairperson. Together with Sue Massingham she now takes the Advanced Class and also trains the Club’s demonstration team, who appear at a number of events during the year. Sue is a tireless worker and is a mainstay of the club. She has been known to drive back from work commitments on the other side of the country to attend a committee meeting or take a class. If you get the opportunity ask Sue to relate some of her experiences with Lune at a dog show! (He could be a showstopper.)
